Beauty Tutorials: The 60’s Cut crease eye Makeup Trend

Find my article on The Lookhit website in the "Beauty Tutorials" section!!
Enjoy! Xxx
The 60's Cut crease eye Makeup Trend
The cut crease beauty trend has taken the Spring/Summer 2013 designer collections by storm, making one of the biggest comebacks since it originated in the 1960’s.  Having been dominant beauty idols for decades, 60’s style icons Twiggy, Liza Minnelli and Barbara Streisand’s makeup looks have being recreated and reinvented by designers, celebrities and trendsetters alike.
This season Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2013 collection was at the forefront of the cut crease craze, taking inspiration from 60’s style icon Edie Sedqwick.  Jacobs created wild yet wearable makeup, sending his models down the runway with all the focus on the eyes, revitalizing the classic Twiggy eye.  Equally Michael Kors gave the beauty trend a modern twist using a bright stripe of colour in the crease of the eye to create a dramatic impact down the catwalk.  The most successful transformation however was seen from ‘Girls’ actor and creator Lena Dunham.  She created an ultra-mod look, producing the perfect cut crease inspired eyes, natural makeup and monochrome nails.
Want to create the perfect 60’s cut crease eye?
Step One: (Use a shadow primer first as a base to make sure the shape stays in place.)  Using a pencil or liquid eye liner, draw a thick half-moon shaped line along the upper socket starting from the corner of your eye outwards.  Depending on how intense you want your eye to look, you can substitute your eye liner with a matte black eye shadow to create a softer diffused line. This creates an exaggerated look emulating the 60’s heavy-lidded eye.
Step Two: Using a matte black eye shadow, begin to build over the previous black pencil line in step one, working outwards so the volume of colour is on the outside.  Then using a blending brush, blend the two lines together at the edges.
Step Three: Use a liquid eye liner and draw a thick flicked line along the top of your lashes, starting from the corner of your eye and finishing at the small crease on the outer edge.
Step Four: Finish off with a thick coating of black mascara.
Wear this look with neutral lips for maximum impact and you’re set to be on trend this season!

Here's a snapshot of it on the website!! (a link at the top of this post)

Spring Summer BEAUTY TREND for 2013

Two-Toned Lips!

Whilst you might find this latest beauty trend slightly impractical and at times high maintenance, you can't deny the sheer creativity and forever striking effect you can get with two-toned lips. Showcased in multiple Spring 2013 catwalk collections, it's a clear indication that this trend is here to stay. Holly Fulton and Erdem were at the forefront of the trend, mixing bright orange and hot pink to create various combinations of the two-toned lip.

Look 1: Split
The bravest of the two-tone looks is the split lip, simply consisting of two different colours on each lip. To create the most daring use a lighter shade on top and darker hue on the bottom.

Look 2: Geisha Pout
Dot a different colour in the middle of your lips and a different at the edges to create a glamorous pout.

Look 3: The Blend
Like the split look choose two colours on each lip and blend to create a graduated colour palette.
